Accessing Counseling Services in College
Throughout your college career there will be many times when counseling services could benefit you greatly.
The transition from High School to College and college to life are crucial. They can be exciting and stressful. Other reasons students seek out counseling services may include:
- Managing stress
- Help with homesickness, loneliness, or depression
- Time management skills and setting priorities
- Solving roommate disputes
- Adjustments to college life
- Balancing the various facets and responsibilities of life
- Personal issues
- Relationship difficulties
Christ-Centered Counseling Services
Just about every college and university offers some type of counseling services to its students and staff. Great Lakes is no exception. In fact, our counseling services are exceptional in that we provide two types of counseling.
- Traditional trained counselors
- A Peer Support team made up of trained peer counselors
Both types are available to help students work through various issues in a safe, confidential environment.
The Peer Support Team is a great way to connect with other students and affirm that you are not alone. Many students may have the same questions and concerns that you do. Often times it helps to talk to someone who is on the same path you are and can really relate to your season of life.
At Bible colleges and Christian colleges, students have the added assurance that the support they receive from counselors, professors, mentors and peers comes from a place of God's love.
A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in a setting of silver. Proverbs 25:11
Getting Help
Reaching out and asking for help can be the best thing you do for yourself, and others! In college you are surrounded by people who are interested in your well-being and your success.
Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing.
1 Thessalonians 5:11
